Ancient Greek Sculpture
Probably the Ancient World's Best!
Greek Sculpture. Ancient Greek sculptures produced in the Classical Period are some of the most exquisite sculptures the world has ever seen.
One of the striking things to me as I observed these sculptures is the freedom of movement and freedom of expression shown. I was also intrigued by how a sculpture could artistically represent the ideals and philosophy of a culture. It is interesting that through sculpture you can witness the influences and evolution of the Greek world. To go from the stiff vertical figures of earlier ages to the fluid, life like statues of the Classical and Hellenistic periods. The Greek sculpture figures were simply beautiful. We are going to explore that sculpture on these pages - and I will try to show it as well as talk about it.
